Effortless Styling: Refresh Yourself and Your Home
There’s something grounding about styling little corners of my home and my clients’—shifting pieces, playing with balance, and finding arrangements that spark joy. Whether it’s a coffee table or open shelves, I’m always reimagining my space, inspired by the seasons or a new treasure. The same thoughtful approach guides how I style myself—mixing textures, embracing contrast, and adding the unexpected. The rules overlap: the magic of threes, a blend of materials, and a moment of surprise.
Perfect mixing of metals, textures and creme tones.
With spring on the horizon, there’s an undeniable pull towards a softer color palette with layers of light linen and airy fabrics. Add touches of spring florals to your vignettes for a subtle nod to the season—bringing in natural beauty and a sense of renewal.
One of my favorite styling tricks is leaning into the power of three. It’s a simple rule of thumb: when arranging objects, group them in threes for a look that feels balanced, natural, and easy on the eyes. There’s just something about odd numbers that creates harmony without feeling too perfect or staged. If you’re working with more than three pieces, sticking to odd numbers tends to have the same effect. The same goes for getting dressed. A great bag, a belt and a subtle earring- but adding more takes over the whole look. Here’s a few examples!
The tile’s subtle shine, raw wood, and hand-stitched lamp add quiet intrigue to the space.
Another key element is playing with height and scale. Varying the heights of your objects adds dimension and gives the eye a reason to wander through the arrangement. Think of it like creating little peaks and valleys—layering tall, medium, and low pieces keeps things visually interesting. If everything’s feeling too flat or horizontal, try stacking a few books as a base to lift a smaller item and create balance within the group. It’s all about creating flow and movement so the composition feels effortless!
And lastly- the element of surprise! One of the easiest ways to create a pop moment in styling your home is by foraging a few branches straight from nature. Head outside with clippers and gather what catches your eye—lush greenery, bare branches, or anything in between. Embrace their natural shape, let the arrangement feel a little wild, and enjoy how they add movement, height, and sculptural beauty. Best of all, branches age beautifully, adding texture as they dry. When styling myself, I love to add a pop of unexpected color or material to break up a more monochromatic look.
When it comes to styling, less is more. Books, bowls, candles, and art—curate pieces that feel meaningful or complement each other. If a vignette starts to feel cluttered, step back and edit. Trust your instincts! Here are some of my favorite pieces to style with when creating those effortlessly layered moments.
