Everything I Saved This Week - Real Real Edition

A treasure hunt, a few rules, and some great pieces I found this week.

Sustainability is something I think about constantly, both in the homes I design and in the way I shop for myself. Vintage is almost always my first instinct. It is why I lean on antiques and found pieces in nearly every project, and why so much of my own wardrobe comes secondhand. When you are buying quality designers, you can trust the piece will last.

The Real Real is one of my favorite places to look. It’s a treasure hunt, really.

A few things I have learned along the way.

  1. On saved searches

I keep my saved searches deliberately broad. Not “vintage Hermès enamel bangle, narrow, gold.” Just the brand and category. The platform is wonderful and imperfect, and the imperfection is the opportunity. Items get tagged loosely, mislabeled, filed under the wrong designer entirely. A tight search filters out exactly the pieces I most want to find.

So I cast a wide net and skim often. The good things tend to surface within the first few pages if you are paying attention.

  1. On Sizing

I never filter by size. Ever. The measurements are frequently wrong, and a beautiful piece listed under the wrong size will sit there waiting for someone willing to look. I read the actual measurements in the description, look closely at the images, and decide from there. It takes another minute. It is almost always worth it.

What I saved this week

I am definitely ready for Spring weather, considering it’s a balmy 42 degrees today in New York. Here’s a few items I have saved in my cart that would be great additions to any Spring wardrobe.

Hope a few of you can snag some of these!

More soon.
